Rural Sports in Kaukapakapa
Pandy Fruean is the organiser for local sports club – Rural Sports. In 2008 the club started Touch Rugby at Sinclair Park on Friday nights from October to March. They had such great feedback and support that they will be running the module again in 2009/2010 and would like to have more teams enter to grow the competition.
Touch Rugby, Sinclair Park, Module 1 from October 23 – December 18 and Module 2 from 12 February 2010.
Also, for the first time the club is introducing T-Ball (a modified form of baseball) to the area. A school team competition for Y1 – Y8 starts in Term 4 on Tuesday’s after school. Cost is very minimal $25 per child.
Rural Sports' aim is to utilise Kaukapakapa's great recreational park in Sinclair Road, get more kids into organised sport locally and hopefully see Rodney District Council spend some money upgrading Sinclair Park with playgrounds, clubrooms etc so that it can be the hub of our great community.
